The recent earthquakes in Haiti and Chilé hipped me to something. Events that shift the planet's mass will tilt its axis. That makes the planet spin more quickly - and shortens our days. Granted, only by microseconds, but I want all the sunlight I can get! Actually, our nights would shortened, too, of course. Read more about it here.

I love the way hip-hop producers can create collages and recontextualize sound, to make old songs into new ones. Some are lazy; some are true artists. In either case, you'll find evidence of their handiwork at this website. It's mostly run by volunteer moderators and submitters. I've even made a contribution.

Monday morning, I found out that my fellow Detroiter Doug Fieger had died after battling cancer. Here he is, singing the song people loved to hate for a while in 1979. I can still play every note of the solo on air guitar...even the longer version.
